Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll

The Parish Council wish to express their profound sadness at the death of our Queen and our sincere condolences to the Royal Family.

“May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest . . ”

Working together with Cawood Parochial Church Council, we are honoured to provide a  book of condolence which is available at All Saints Church for anyone to make their contribution

Whilst we have no plans for an official event, A Moment of Reflection on the Eve of the Funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we have been sent guidance which may be used by anyone should they wish: Ceremony to Mark the Vigil

In addition to many churches and community spaces being open for people to come to remember and to pay their respects to HM Queen Elizabeth ll, Selby Abbey will remain open from 9.00am to 7.00pm daily throughout the period of National Mourning for those who want to come to reflect, pray, light candles, leave floral tributes and sign Selby District’s Book of Condolence as many have done already since the Queen’s death last Thursday.

There will also be a Service of Commemoration for HM The Queen at Selby Abbey on Sunday 18th September at 3.00pm.

The service is being organised in partnership with Selby District Council and people are invited from across the district to join us to remember and to give thanks for HM Queen Elizabeth’s life and reign, especially if there are no other local services of Commemoration taking place in in their town or village.
