Swarms etc: help and advice on bees, wasps, bumble bees

May:

we’re just entering a swarm period for honey bees at the moment. If you see a swarm of honeybees can you please go online to the click on the swarm collection link at the British beekeepers association https://www.bbka.org.uk/find-a-local-swarm-collector and check your local area for the contact details of a local beekeeper who will come and collect them. Please do not try to move them on by squirting them with a hose or throw things at them.
They may sound scary when there is such a large amount of them but they are quite placid. They gorge themselves on honey before leaving the hive and are just resting while looking for a new home. Please don’t kill them, just call your local swarm collector and we’ll remove them. This is normally a free service (from a FB page)
