Environment Agency update on works

2024-10-31 Cawood Parish Council and Resident Communications October Update (1)

Working to reduce flood risk in your area.
Improvements to Bishop Dyke Pumping Station – Cawood
This update aims to provide you with the latest details of our planned works on Bishop Dyke Pumping Station in Cawood.
We informed you in May that the first phase of the project was to install temporary pumps and control equipment to enable the old pumps and control panels to be removed in readiness for the new pumps and control instrumentation. Our contractor BAM Nuttall completed the first phase of works in June and the temporary pumps been operational since and will remain throughout the next phase of works.
After a period of minimal presence on site we are now entering the second phase of the project where more activities and contractor presence will be expected.
The second phase of the project focuses on preparing for and installation of the permanent pumps and controls.
The current programme for work activities is as follows:
Week commencing the 4th of November work will begin on repairs to the pumping stations flat roof and skylights.
Week commencing the 11th of November our contractor BAM will begin the main preparatory works for the new pumps followed by the installation of the new pumps and control panel.
From this date BAM Nuttall have agreed with NYCC, the suspension of the first 4 parking bays nearest the pumping station, to site their small welfare unit for the duration of the works.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause to residents, but we will endeavour to keep this to a minimum whilst we make these significant improvements to the pumping station
The current expectation is that the project will now be substantially complete by the end of 2024 with final acceptance testing in early 2025.
